Our Name

Our name is full of meaning. First of all, in the Gospel of John, Jesus said, “I am THE WAY.” The Way Station is a place for those who follow THE WAY, Jesus Christ, or are seeking to learn more about Him.

Secondly, dictionary.com defines a way station as ‘a station between principal stations on a route.’ It is a stopover on a journey. A place between where you were and where you are headed, similar to an airport where you layover waiting for your next flight. *GEEK ALERT* If you remember the Star Trek series ‘Deep Space 9’, then you would know that Deep Space 9 was a way station. It was a place to hang out, refuel, and interact with other travelers.

That is how we see our church. It is a way station on our spiritual journey. It’s a place to hang out with fellow travelers and to refill our spiritual ‘gas tanks.’ It is a place between where we’ve been, our past, with the good, the bad, and the ugly and our future, full of hope thanks to Jesus Christ our Savior and the promise of spending an eternity with Him where there is no bad or ugly, only good.
